Scientifically proven – hearing aids make you happier

Users of hearing aids sleep better. Compared to people with unaided hearing loss, they are less physically and mentally drained in the evening. The European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA) has gathered this, and other interesting facts, in a comprehensive study.

Since 2009, EHIMA has been surveying people with hearing loss as well as hearing aid wearers as part of EuroTrak. Over the last few years more than 175,000 people have taken part in these surveys. The EuroTrak study shows a lot of exciting and surprising trends for the period between 2009 and 2018 in regard to dealing with hearing loss and hearing aids.

Satisfaction and Hearing Aid Usage

Acceptance of hearing aids has increased significantly in the around ten years since the study began. In 2009, 56% of respondents said they were embarrassed about wearing a hearing aid. In 2018 this number had fallen to just 30%. Furthermore, today almost 80% of respondents said they liked the design of their hearing aid, compared to less than half of respondents in 2009.
